Barbara Edell Fisher, Ph.D.

Barbara Edell Fisher, Ph.D. is a NYS licensed psychologist. She has devoted the past 30 years of her career to providing cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) to adults and adolescents on Long Island. More recently, Dr. Fisher became very interested in the practice of mindfulness and meditation. Several years ago, Dr. Fisher became a Certified Koru Mindfulness teacher. Additionally, she is certified to teach MB-EAT, an NIH supported program informed by the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn which addresses emotional eating, disordered eating and Binge Eating Disorder and the .b mindfulness programs for teens. Dr. Fisher has also served as a consultant to many schools and organizations. Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals. Currently, she is an adjunct professor at State University of New York at Old Westbury. She maintains a daily meditation practice and also believes very strongly in the importance of physical activity and connection with nature to promote mind-body health.
